The Trustico® DV Single Site SSL Certificate secures a domain using Domain Validation (DV). It confirms control of the domain only, so no organization paperwork is required and the SSL Certificate is issued within minutes of successful validation.
It suits small businesses, personal websites, and startups that need trusted encryption without organization verification. When you secure www.example.com, the root domain example.com is included automatically at no additional cost.
This SSL Certificate performs server authentication and can secure a service on any port. Common uses include websites, webmail, e-mail servers running Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), Virtual Private Network (VPN) servers, remote desktop, and network appliances or routers.
More broadly, it works with any other server, software, or device that accepts an SSL Certificate to secure a connection from one point to another. For information about Client Authentication 🔗 please read about global regulated changes prior to purchase.
The Trustico® DV Single Site SSL Certificate balances essential protection with reliable service for a single domain. The sections below explain how it is validated, what it includes, and how to install it.
Fast Domain Validation
Domain Validation (DV) confirms that you control the domain being secured, with no business checks and no document submissions. The process is automated and usually completes within minutes.
You can validate by e-mail, by adding a Domain Name System (DNS) record, or by placing a file on your web server. Learn About Domain Validation 🔗
Encryption and Protocols
The SSL Certificate uses 2048-bit RSA keys with 256-bit symmetric encryption, and supports the Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and 1.3 protocols. Browsers show the padlock icon and serve your site over HTTPS.
This supports the encryption requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) for online payments, and uses the SHA-256 hashing algorithm. Compare Encryption Algorithms 🔗
USD $500,000 Warranty
Every Trustico® DV SSL Certificate includes a USD $500,000 Relying Party Warranty. This provides financial protection in the rare event that the Certificate Authority (CA) issues the SSL Certificate in error.
The SSL Certificate can also be reissued as many times as you need at no extra charge, for example to update your configuration or change your Private Key. Discover Warranty Details 🔗
Trustico® Site Seal
Each order includes a complimentary Trustico® site seal that you can display on your website to reinforce visitor confidence. Placing it on payment, registration, and contact pages can reassure customers at the moments that matter.
The seal is added with a short snippet of HTML. Explore the Trustico® Site Seal 🔗
Browser Compatibility
The SSL Certificate is trusted by around 99.9% of web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Mobile devices on iOS and Android trust it without any additional configuration.
This wide recognition means visitors reach your secure site without warnings. Understand Browser Compatibility 🔗
Root Domain Included Free
When you secure www.example.com, the root domain example.com is included automatically at no additional cost as a secured Subject Alternative Name (SAN). For this reason, entering the www version of your domain is recommended, so that the root domain is reliably covered.
For most root domains entered on their own, the www version is included free in the same way. Any free additional name is subject to the same validation requirements as the primary domain, and if it cannot be validated, it may not be included on the SSL Certificate.
If you specifically need several separate names secured with certainty, such as both the www and root domain or any other combination, a Multi Domain product is a better fit. Every name is listed explicitly, and the SSL Certificate is not issued until all of them are validated. Explore Multi Domain Options 🔗
Installation
To install the SSL Certificate, generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR), complete validation, and deploy the issued SSL Certificate with the intermediate chain files that are provided. Platform guides cover Apache, Nginx, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), and other common web servers and control panels.
If you would prefer the installation handled for you, the Premium Installation service is available. Access Installation Guides 🔗

Refund Policy and Price Promise
Each SSL Certificate order is a license that is unlocked when validation is completed by the Certificate Authority (CA). If validation cannot be completed before that point, the value of your purchase is protected as Trustico® Prepaid Credit, which you can apply to a different SSL Certificate, domain, or product.
Once the order has been validated and the SSL Certificate has been issued, the license is active and refunds are no longer available. Any request that falls outside this pre-validation protection is considered at the discretion of Trustico® through the refund request form. Review the No Risk Refund Policy 🔗
Trustico® also offers a price match against advertised prices from other providers, both before and after you order, so you are not overpaying. Learn About The Trustico® Price Promise 🔗
Your SSL Certificate License
When you order, you are purchasing an SSL Certificate license for the period you choose, such as one or two years. A multiple year license locks in current pricing and covers you for the full term you select.
An individual SSL Certificate has a maximum validity period set by industry rules, currently 200 days and subject to change. For this reason, a longer license is kept current by reissuing the SSL Certificate during the license period, rather than by issuing a single SSL Certificate for the whole term.
You can reissue as often as you need, free of charge, throughout the license period. Each reissue provides the maximum validity available from the time remaining on your license, so a reissue made close to the end covers only that shorter remaining period. Manage your reissues in the Trustico® Tracking System 🔗
A reissue is not the same as buying a new license. Reissuing replaces your SSL Certificate within the license you already hold, at no cost, while a new license is a separate paid order. Purchase the new license around two weeks before your current one ends, so there is time to validate and install without interruption.
Trustico® sends a notice before your license period ends, but keeping track of the SSL Certificates installed on your server remains your responsibility. You can check the expiry dates on your server directly, or use a monitoring service. Calendar files for both your license dates and your SSL Certificate dates can be downloaded from the tracking system.
Suitable Uses
The Trustico® DV Single Site SSL Certificate suits sole proprietors, independent contractors, and small retail or service businesses building a professional online presence. It is well suited to blogs, informational websites, and portfolios that need trusted encryption without organization verification.
It is a practical choice wherever a single domain needs reliable encryption and a recognized padlock, rather than a verified organization identity. A site that needs a verified business identity should consider a higher validation level.
Higher Validation Options
If your website handles payments, sensitive accounts, or high-value transactions, a higher validation level adds a verified organization identity to the encryption. Compare Organization Validation 🔗
Extended Validation applies the most rigorous identity checks of all. Compare Extended Validation 🔗
